Recommendations:
Although the solution can be used immediately, it is advisable to aerate the water until an oxygen/carbon dioxide balance is achieved. The mixture is formulated to create 160 gallons of salt water with a specific gravity of 1.021. It is important to measure specific gravity with an Instant Ocean hydrometer to ensure proper levels.
Note on use: Never mix salt in an aquarium containing animals, and please note that this product is not suitable for human consumption. In new aquariums, once the specific gravity is adjusted and the salt has been thoroughly mixed and the water aerated, the fish can be moved to the aquarium. The following table shows the average calcium and magnesium levels at different salinities of reverse osmosis filtered water.
